According to football.london, Chelsea and Manchester United have agreed an agreement for Mason Mount valued roughly £60 million.

United have finally reached an agreement with the England international, who has a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge. The Red Devils will pay Chelsea £55 million plus £5 million in add-ons for Mount, who has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

Today marked the start of what football.london termed as ‘definitive discussions’ between Chelsea and United for Mount’s signature, following the Blues’ refusal of three offers from the Manchester-based club. The two clubs, however, found a quick solution in these crucial negotiations, and Mount will now go through the formalities of finalizing a move to Old Trafford in the coming days.

Chelsea and Mount had been talking about signing a new contract for the past year. Before last year’s World Cup, there was optimism that a deal could be reached, but things changed once he returned home from the international tournament.

Mount and his entourage believed they had verbally agreed to terms on a new contract with Chelsea, but the club pulled the offer once he returned to Cobham. The Blues then offered the 24-year-old midfielder a one-year contract extension in February, which would have increased his income, but the proposition was quickly rejected, according to football.london.

Talks have been ongoing for some months. However, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal have all been put on high alert as a result of the scenario, with all three Premier League teams expressing an interest in Mount.

Liverpool was once the frontrunner, but when United came calling, Mount selected Old Trafford. Chelsea and United have reached an agreement for Mount, who will leave the West London club after 18 years.
