In an otherwise awful season for the club, the attacker had an immediate impact upon his return to Old Trafford, scoring 24 goals in all competitions.

Man United concluded the season without a title and sixth in the Premier League, 35 points behind winners Manchester City and 13 points outside the top four. They’re hopeful that a new manager, Erik ten Hag, will help them turn things around next season.

Only CR7 lived up to the hype.

Except for Ronaldo, Maguire now agrees that any of the players did not perform up to expectations.

“I haven’t spoken to him [Ten Hag] yet,” Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney stated.

“I’m sure he gets where I’m coming from in terms of leaving with my nation.” I’m confident we’ll communicate in the coming weeks. We need to improve and do better because last season was far from satisfactory.

“The new manager will bring a lot of positive energy to the team, and the players will embrace it.” The club has had a terrible season in general this year. We can look at individual performances, but apart from Cristiano’s goals, I don’t believe any other player at the club has performed at a high level.

“However, if you look at individual performances, I think it’s difficult to play in a team when collectively we haven’t been good enough, tight enough, or collaborated well enough.”
