Manchester United target Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou as they plot goalkeeper shake-up

Despite being one of United’s greatest players this season, David de Gea has only 18 months left on his current contract, which raises the possibility of a summer departure.

Dean Henderson has a contract until 2025, but he is expected to seek a transfer away from Old Trafford after being dissatisfied by a lack of Premier League opportunities this season.

Despite believing he would provide meaningful competition for De Gea, the England international has yet to appear in the Premier League this season.

United also has Tom Heaton and Lee Grant, with Heaton’s contract set to run until 2023 and Grant’s deal set to expire at the conclusion of this season.

Bounou has come on their radar for a summer move, according to the Mirror, with scouts sent to monitor the Morocco international and believing they can get him for roughly £25 million.

The 30-year-old joined Sevilla from Girona in 2019 and has quickly established himself as a first-team regular, making 96 appearances since then.

Atletico Madrid and a number of Serie A clubs have apparently taken notice of his good performances.

Sevilla do not want him to leave and want to prolong his contract, which is set to expire in two years, as well as increase his release clause to north of £60 million.

If the Moroccan does move to Old Trafford, it will very certainly be to replace Henderson as the club’s number two, with De Gea stating that he has no plans to leave anytime soon.

‘I admire the fact that I was born in Madrid, but it’s simply a city at the end of the day,’ the Spaniard added. ‘I now feel like I’m from Manchester; I just feel like any other Manchester resident.’

‘Your home is where you are loved and welcomed. I’ve been here for a long time, and while anything can happen in life, especially in football, I don’t see myself leaving Manchester United.’
