The France forward is now making headlines for all the wrong reasons, and he was compelled to defend himself after Rangnick stated that Martial did not want to be included in the matchday squad for Saturday evening’s draw with Aston Villa.

Last month, the 26-year-representative old’s stated that his client desired a move to gain more playing time. Indeed, in 10 appearances in all competitions this season, the former Monaco star has only scored once.

Martial, who has more than three years remaining on his contract, is expected to be sold or loaned out, depending on what is best for the club or player.

However, according to The Times and The Athletic, both Mourinho and Solskjaer wanted the forward out of the club before to this latest incident.

Martial has failed to live up to the enormous promise he displayed early in his Manchester United career.

He signed in 2015 for a world-record cost for a teenager of £36 million, which may rise to £58 million. However, he has only scored 79 goals in 268 games for the club, with the 2019-20 season being a highlight year in which he bagged 23 goals and was granted a lucrative new deal.

Martial has also been harmed by a number of coaches who have used him in a variety of attacking roles. While that hasn’t helped his cause, the feeling currently is that he needs to make a change in order to revive his career.

United has set a high price for Phil Jones.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, according to a report, have priced themselves out of a transfer with their high asking price for out-of-favor player Phil Jones.

Jones was solid in his return to the Red Devils lineup in their recent defeat to Wolves, but he is unlikely to play a role in the club’s future aspirations. He wants to play regularly, so a move away from Old Trafford is on the cards.

However, his wish may not be granted. This is because United will not entertain bids for the 29-year-old that are less than £15 million.

According to the Daily Star, the’staggering’ price tag has been placed on him.

Jones has only appeared in one first-team match in the last two years. And there’s no guarantee he won’t sustain other injuries.

His contract has only 18 months left on it. However, there is the opportunity to extend it for another year.

Burnley, a Premier League club, is interested in giving him an opportunity. However, the typically frugal spenders will not be able to stretch to that amount of money.

The defender is presently paid £100,000 per week and would have to accept a wage cut as well.

Newcastle has been mentioned as a prospective suitor.
Newcastle has also been mooted as a possible destination for Jones. They would have no trouble covering the transfer fee and wages.

But he’s not at the top of their list of goals. Diego Carlos of Sevilla is currently their top priority.

Jones, who joined United for £16.5 million from Blackburn in 2011, is now part of a growing group of disgruntled players who want go but aren’t being let go.

Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson – the list is long and growing.
