Manchester United and Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign central midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Manchester United fans were ecstatic as rumors in Spain stated that Barcelona had already produced a farewell film for Frenkie de Jong.

The Netherlands international, who joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019, is on the verge of joining Manchester United after reaching an agreement with the Spanish giants earlier this week. According to the Manchester Evening News, the Reds have negotiated an initial cost of €65 million (£56.14 million) to recruit the Dutchman.

De Jong, along with countryman Tyrell Malacia, is set to be one of Erik ten Hag’s first acquisitions. The United manager made De Jong his top transfer target in early May, and the Reds have had to play a patient game to now be on the verge of completing the deal.

Barcelona, according to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, has already planned a farewell film for the midfielder before he leaves the Camp Nou to be reunited with Ten Hag. De Jong will be a significant boost over United’s present central-midfield alternatives, therefore his arrival will immediately strengthen the squad.
