Erik ten Hag speaks out on first two potential transfers under new Man Utd owners

Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, has stated that it is "far too soon" to talk permanent signings for loan players Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst.

The pair came to Old Trafford on loan from Bayern Munich and Burnley, respectively, during the January transfer window. Since then, they have had a beneficial impact.

Weghorst, 30, has been the Red Devils’ starting striker since signing his loan deal, despite only scoring one goal in all competitions. Sabitzer’s expertise has proven useful in both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup thus far.

Since his arrival, the Austrian midfielder has yet to lose a game, and he guided the Red Devils to victory over Newcastle at Wembley last weekend. So far, his only violation has been a crunching challenge on Wout Faes in the win over Leicester, for which Sabitzer was fortunate to avoid a red card.

The focus has shifted to potential permanent signings for the pair, which might be finalized by the Red Devils’ new owners and is likely to be completed by the conclusion of the season. Ten Hag, on the other hand, has argued that it is still too early to think about the club’s summer business because there is still a lot to play for.

“I think it’s far too early to talk about it,” the Dutchman added. “First and foremost, we are in this season. It is where all attention must be directed. There will be no distractions during the upcoming season.

“No, we’re in this season, and we’re in a perfect position right now. We want to be in this position since we have three competitions.”

Ten Hag has reiterated that he has no plans for permanent transfers for Sabitzer or Weghorst at this time, but that hasn’t stopped the two players from expressing their desires. The on-loan Bayern Munich midfielder is allegedly open to a move, with his agent Roger Wittmann stating that the Austrian is enjoying life at Old Trafford.

“We see Marcel from Leipzig again at Manchester United. “I’m overjoyed for him,” he told SPORT1. When asked about what occurs during the summer, he said, “We’ll see when the time comes.”

Nevertheless, Weghorst has already stated his desire for a permanent transfer. “It’s amazing to be here,” the Netherlands striker remarked shortly after arrival. The atmosphere, the away fans, the up-and-down game. Wonderful. I’ve been here for more than a week. It’s going swimmingly.

“Of course [he wants to stay at Man United], but first I need to prove to myself that I can contribute to the team and this club.”

Weghorst and Sabitzer will both be looking to contribute to the Red Devils in what promises to be another demanding week. They play West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday before facing fierce rivals Liverpool at the weekend.
