The 18-year-old midfielder has long been considered as one of United’s most promising young players, and Chadwick, who rose through the club’s academy to play in the first team earlier in his career, has singled him out as a youngster to keep an eye on.

In general, Chadwick remains upbeat about his former club’s prospects, owing to the strength of their academy, with Mejbri tipped to be the next big thing to follow Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Scott McTominay into the senior team.

“From years gone by, that’s what Manchester United has been built on,” Chadwick told CaughtOffside. “Even with the club’s massive downward slide, with where they’ve finished in the league and a paucity of trophies since Sir Alex retired, the one constant has been those youth players who’ve progressed into the first-team.”

“I’ve seen him (Mejbri) a lot in the Under-18s and Under-23s.” He has a lot of technical talent, but more importantly, he’s a big character with a lot of self-confidence.
