According to a new Mirror report, several Premier League clubs had scouts at the De Klassieker this week, the high-profile Dutch football derby between Ajax and Feyenoord.

Scouts from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton, Leicester City, West Ham United, and Brentford are said to have attended the game to witness the highly-rated Feyenoord duo Kokcu and Santiago Gimenez.

Kokcu, who is also rumored to be a Benfica target, is Feyenoord’s captain and has been pivotal to the club’s fortunes as they seek their first Eredivisie title in six years.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Holland but represents Turkey, has also helped Feyenoord reach the Europa League quarter-finals.

According to the Mirror, representatives from clubs throughout Europe, including Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, and Lyon, were in attendance to witness Ajax’s 2-1 victory.

Malacia communicates with Kokcu
Malacia, who was a member of Feyenoord’s development system before joining United last summer, messaged Kokcu on social media.

The 23-year-old uploaded a photo from Kokcu’s Instagram of the midfielder celebrating with teammate Igor Paixao.

Malacia captioned the Instagram story “Bijna,” a Dutch word that translates to “almost,” possibly referring to Feyenoord’s proximity to the Eredivisie title.

Aside from Kokcu, United are reported to be interested in signing Brighton duo Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo to improve their midfield options.

The club is also seeking a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo and is reportedly considering signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane or Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also stated that United has held conversations with the representation of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, who has eight goals and five assists this season from the right-back position.
