The newest Old Trafford transfer whispers surround England center-back Harry Maguire.
According to sources, Newcastle United is set to enter the fight to capture Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, as the Old Trafford giants ponder releasing him during the summer transfer window.
This season, Maguire, 30, has fallen behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the pecking order. Maguire has played 21 games in all competitions, but he has only logged 1,000 minutes.
The speculation over his future is still at an all-time high. United intend to make at least two huge signings when the market reopens, and they might make a third if Maguire decides to go in order to earn regular minutes somewhere in the Premier League – especially with Euro 2024 on the horizon.
90-minute credit reports Newcastle are interested in Maguire and believes they are among the favorites to sign him due to their anticipated European qualifying. West Ham and Wolves have also been mentioned as prospective suitors as the off-season approaches.
Maguire joined United four years ago at £80 million from Leicester City. Since then, the center-back has made 165 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and assisting on five occasions.
In other news, Football Insider claims that Manchester United is planning to “hijack” a summer deal for highly-rated target man Benjamin Sesko, who is set to join RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg when the market reopens. Sesko has long been linked with a move to Manchester United.
United intends to sign a long-term frontman as part of their upcoming transfer plans, with Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane leading the charge. Key officials in charge of incomings and outgoings, on the other hand, have one eye on the future, with Sesko seen as a possible target.
The Bundesliga club has already signed the 19-year-old to a five-year contract. However, there is a potential he will eventually break the pre-agreement.
