Gullit, drawing from his experience playing alongside Marco Van Basten, emphasized the value of feeding a confident striker, “I always thought if I give it to him, it’s a definite goal, whereas if I take the shot, it’s only a possibility.

Strikers are naturally self-focused and driven to score. Their happiness and confidence in the team significantly impact the overall performance.”

In contrast, Hojlund’s goal-scoring prowess shines brighter in the Champions League, notably with his first goal against Bayern Munich and a brace against Galatasaray, even though both matches ended in defeat.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag offered insights into his decision to substitute the Danish international in the 63rd minute against Sheffield United, explaining that it’s a part of their strategy to keep Hojlund in prime form.

Ten Hag clarified, “He often plays full games, but our idea is to manage his playing time.

It’s also a matter of internal competition, ensuring we maintain his sharpness. By rotating him in and out of games, and between games, we can preserve the team’s energy, focus, and freshness.”
