Alvaro Morata is surplus to requirement in Atletico Madrid after he returned to the club from a loan spell in Juventus. Reports claim that the player may join Manchester United if the Red Devils make efforts to sign him. Manchester United have had a lot of problems attracting quality players because the players all want to play in the Champions League all to the frustration of the Red Devils.

Alvaro Morata was once chased by Mourinho when he was Manchester United’s coach but Real Madrid could not agree with the Red Devils on his valuation that time. United went for Romelu Lukaku instead who was spectacular for Everton. The Belgian did win a few trophies for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho but he did not quite measure up to Manchester United’s standard. Interestingly, Manchester United were chasing Lukaku then while Man United pushed for Morata. In the end, Morata went to Chelsea while Lukaku came to United. Neither of the players could match the hypes that brought them in.

It is a fact that Romelu L;ukaku finally had a chance to come to Chelsea after phenomenal outings in Inter Milan but his return to Chelsea was a flop. Some fear that Morata may suffer the same fate in Manchester United should he make the move not to mention not playing in the Champions League. If the Spaniard is willing to come to Old Trafford wisdom demands that the board should jump at it. Morata is a decent striker and banged in 20 goals for Atletico Madrid over a season and a half with which the club was deeply impressed but apparently not impressed enough to want to keep him this season.
