According to Transfermarkt, the Serbian was signed by Chelsea in 2017 for £40 million and has made 183 appearances for the Red Devils.

He signed a two-year extension in 2020 with the option of an additional year, which he does not intend to exercise.

Matic has appeared in 26 games this season, but the club confirmed on Instagram that 2021/22 will be his final season with the club.

“After much deliberation, I have decided that this season will be my final with Manchester United.” “I notified the board, the manager, and the players of my choice,” Matic explained.

“It has been an enormous honor and joy to play for this fantastic club.” Thank you so much to the fans for your everlasting support.

“I will give everything I’ve got until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strong as possible.”

Matic joined United from Chelsea, where he won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and one League Cup.

He did not win a single trophy at Old Trafford, losing the 2018 FA Cup final to his former team and the 2021 Europa League final to Villarreal.

Man United are reportedly close to appointing Ajax manager Erik ten Hag as their new manager.

Dusan Tadic, Ten Hag’s captain at Ajax, is optimistic that the 52-year-old will stay put. However, the Serbian playmaker admits that he is most suited for the Premier League.

“I hope he stays because he’s a fantastic trainer.” Tadic called himself “one of the best in the world.”

“He is always up to date on our opponents and knows exactly what a game requires.” Tactically, he considers himself two steps ahead of his opponent. When you’re on the field, you’ll know what to do.

“It’s a pleasure to collaborate with him. It is understandable that there is interest in Ajax’s coaching and players. That is and always will be the case.”
