Not Kane or Osimhen – Real Madrid battle Manchester United for 31-goal league-winning striker
Real Madrid and Manchester United are said to be competing for Napoli midfielder Victor Osimhen this summer.
According to the Daily Mirror, Real Madrid is interested in signing Victor Osimhen. The Merengues are looking for a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema as the summer transfer window approaches. Meanwhile, Manchester United is interested in the Napoli striker, who is valued at £140 million.
Victor Osimhen has long been regarded as one of the world’s top attackers. However, after experiencing teething troubles in 2020, he has improved his game to another level with Napoli. And, after an outstanding season in 2021/22, he led the Partenopei to the elusive Scudetto this season.
With Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the 24-year-old formed a deadly offensive tandem. And Osimhen’s 31 goals and five assists in 39 games spurred Napoli to victory in the league. The growth of the Nigerian striker has not gone unnoticed, with numerous high-profile clubs interested in signing him. Manchester United and Real Madrid are two of his potential suitors.
Manchester United will enter the summer transfer window knowing that they require a top-tier striker to compete on all fronts.
