Getafe supporters were seen dancing in the street outside their stadium after the team signed Mason Greenwood on loan from Manchester United.
The La Liga club recruited the striker on loan from Manchester United after it was announced last week that he would be departing Old Trafford following a six-month internal inquiry.
Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, domestic violence, and controlling behavior in January 2022, but the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the allegations in February this year after key witnesses withdrew and fresh information emerged.
Getafe sealed a surprising signing of Greenwood late on deadline day, despite strong interest from clubs in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Turkey.
After the announcement was made official, a group of supporters was seen celebrating in joy outside the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium.
Getafe tweeted a video from his official account with the caption: “The Coliseum a few minutes ago. @masongreenwood, please accept my greetings.”
Greenwood has not played in a competitive match since January 2022, and he is unlikely to make his debut for Getafe against Real Madrid on Saturday. He is expected to play against Osasuna after the international break on September 17.
