‘Not Good Enough’ – Goldbridge says Man Utd must sell this Solskjaer Best Signing if Ten Hag wants EPL title this season

Last season, Maguire struggled at Old Trafford, starting only eight Premier League games under Erik ten Hag.

Despite being the club captain, the 30-year-old has fallen to fourth place in the pecking order, trailing Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof.

As a result, there have been calls for him to be stripped of his leadership and sold this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham United all being linked with the England international.

United fan and YouTube broadcaster Goldbridge is among many who believe Maguire should be fired.

Goldbridge draws parallels between Maguire and Gerrard.

Goldbridge argued on talkSPORT that Maguire should leave United if he wants to play for England at the Euros, comparing his predicament to that of Liverpool star Steven Gerrard.

“If you’re a John Terry, Steven Gerrard, Tony Adams, or Roy Keane, you know every week you’re playing well and you’re the captain,” Goldbridge explained.

“Harry Maguire has struggled to play consistently for the last 18 months, and he’s also the captain.” That is not the case. The captain must be a consistent top-tier performer.

“He has to give up the captaincy, and I don’t think he’s good enough for Manchester United.” He’s the fourth-string center-back!

“If he wants to play in the Euros, I’d look at [Levi] Colwill and think, ‘Well, I’ve got to go and play first-team football somewhere,'” he says.

“I don’t think he’s good enough; he reminds me of [David] de Gea.” Maguire was a good center-back, and De Gea was a good goalkeeper, but the game has changed.

“He’s not suited to today’s game.” He was a good center-back 10/15 years ago, but in today’s game, when you have to be quick, fluid, and break the lines, I don’t think Harry Maguire fits.”
