Manchester United will be looking to get off to a winning start in the 2023-24 Premier League season when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Monday night.

The Red Devils won the EFL Cup last season, ending a six-year trophy drought, and finished third in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Arsenal.
Erik ten Hag’s side is coming off a 1-1 tie with Athletic Bilbao in their final pre-season friendly last Sunday, as well as a 3-1 win over Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday.

What Ten Hag said: The United manager stated in his pre-match press conference that Mainoo’s impact injury would keep him out of play for a longer period of time than other of his sidelined teammates.

What United have said: Martial returned to full training at Carrington this week and might be in position for a spot on the bench on opening night.

“Malacia; he came to pre-season with an issue,” Ten Hag stated. Malacia will need time to recover because she suffered an impact injury.”

Injury to the calf
What United has said: The Reds confirmed this week that the keeper had a calf injury and will be out for the first game. He is likely to be out for a few weeks.

Injury to the knee
“We had 30 players on tour who were really fit,” Ten Hag remarked. “We were disappointed about Amad and absolutely disappointed about Kobbie.” But that’s what happens when you push yourself to the maximum. Injuries are unavoidable, but we have a solid group and can draft a pretty strong team from there. And you can see it in the two games last weekend between two quality clubs.”
