Fans were hopeful that his comeback, following absences due to form and illness, would bring a positive impact to the team.

However, luck did not favor Rashford, as he continued his goal drought for the 2023/24 season, showing signs of frustration during the game against Aston Villa.

A telling moment occurred in the 18th minute, with the game still scoreless, where Rashford was visibly frustrated, waving his arms in the air after not receiving the pass he anticipated.

Commentator Ally McCoist, speaking to Amazon Prime, expressed his exasperation at Rashford’s reaction.

McCoist remarked, “I’m happy to see Marcus Rashford making the run in behind there. But, what is not a good sign at all is the way he threw his arms up in the air after not receiving the ball.

You don’t throw your hand in the air and let the crowd know you’re unhappy. That’s the one thing you don’t do. One of his teammates should have a word with him about that.”

What made Rashford’s actions disconcerting was that it happened early in the game, with the scores level.

His body language had been heavily criticized in his last start against Newcastle, and one would expect him to enter this fixture aiming to show positivity.

Despite United conceding two quickfire goals from set pieces, making the night more challenging, Rashford managed to turn things around.

He posed a threat at goal, having two shots on target in the first half after Villa went 2-0 up, and another just wide.

To his credit, Rashford consistently tried to make things happen and provided an assist in the second half when Alejandro Garnacho converted his cross to pull a goal back. He would have had another assist if Garnacho’s disallowed goal had been timed better.

Rashford, with only two goals for Manchester United this season in all competitions, was substituted in the 79th minute to applause from supporters.

Commentator McCoist reflected that Rashford had been ‘good’ after the opening 25 minutes. A victory for Manchester United may serve as a boost to rashford’s confidence,
