The newspaper reports that the Old Trafford club are ready to submit a bid in the region of €100m for the Ajax player and that this offer will be accepted.

Along with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, Antony is one of new manager Erik ten Hag’s main targets this summer, but United have reportedly been put off by the Dutch club’s asking price.

It remains to be seen whether United can strike a deal, but if they do not, Gakpo has been named as a potentially cheaper alternative to Antony.

Efforts also appear to have been made, with ED reporting, via NOS, that they have already had “several talks” with the player’s agents.

During these discussions, it was “clearly established” that his wage demands would not be an “obstacle” to a possible transfer if an offer was made.

However, reports yesterday of a new €80m offer were rejected by Ajax and today the player did not take part in training, fuelling speculation about a possible transfer.

Foot Mercato claim that a new offer is in the pipeline which would bring the total transfer price to €100m (€80m plus €20m in bonuses).

“According to our information, this new offer could also be accepted. As proof, [Ajax] are already scouting for a successor to their Brazilian nugget,” the media outlet said.

“The Brazilian winger, who wants to come to England, is clearly wanted by Ten Hag, who knows him well having coached him at Ajax.

“And after a first rejected offer of €70 million (€60 million + €10 bonus), the Red Devils are preparing to attack again with an offer of €100 million, including bonuses, according to our information.
