Nottingham Forest have made a significant bid to recruit Jesse Lingard and are in negotiations with his representation.

Lingard’s favoured destination was thought to be West Ham, but Forest have suddenly joined the fight for his signature.

West Ham have already made a bid to sign Lingard and are pleased with the offer on the table. The Hammers are currently waiting for his decision.

Representatives for the former Manchester United midfielder have been in talks with at least four different clubs in recent days, and he is likely to decide on his next club soon.

The two other offers are said to be from leagues outside of England.

After his contract at Old Trafford expired on June 30, the 29-year-old became a free agent.

Lingard had nine goals and five assists during a fruitful loan spell at West Ham in 2021. He made 231 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, scoring 35 goals.
