Lingard, 29, is set to join the East Midlands club, according to the newspaper’s print edition on Thursday (21 July, page 59).

West Ham had reportedly been in talks to re-sign the former Manchester United attacker, but those talks appear to have fallen through, with Lingard scheduled to have a medical with Forest.

After a fantastic loan spell in the city, the England forward turned down the chance to return to the London Stadium last summer.

He chose to stay at Manchester United because he believed he could push for a starting berth despite the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

And the same thing happened this summer.

Lingard has already dragged us along a few times, and Forest are welcome to him.

He’s certainly going to the City Ground for the money, since why else would he reject down European football at a club he’s already played for to join a club that could face relegation next season?

Lingard’s approach sucks, and we’re relieved that we can finally move on and try to sign other players.

Moyes hasn’t had many flops, but Nikola Vlasic has been a disappointment at West Ham thus far.

Perhaps it’s time for Moyes to put in more effort to get the most out of him or to try to use the extra monies set aside for Lingard to bring in a new striker.
