Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag ‘rejected job approach’ after being offered more money

Erik ten Hag has been a revelation at Manchester United since his appointment as manager in the summer.

According to rumors, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag turned down a move to RB Leipzig in the summer in order to stay at Old Trafford. Since taking over for Ralf Rangnick, the Dutchman has made an impression in the dugout. And he’ll be looking for another great outcome when the Red Devils face Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday.

When it came to replacing Rangnick, who had arrived as an interim substitute for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United looked to Mauricio Pochettino and Julen Lopetegui.

Nonetheless, Ten Hag was hired instead, and the Dutchman has continued to impress in the time since.

Nevertheless, according to The Mirror, the 53-year-old might easily be managing in Germany this season if things had gone differently.

The Dutchman was supposedly approached by RB Leipzig, who were ready to offer him more money to take him to the Bundesliga.

Yet, it is said that Ten Hag felt ‘compelled’ to accept a United offer.

The former Ajax manager had a rocky start in England, with the Red Devils losing their first two Premier League games against Brighton and Brentford.

United, on the other hand, has been a team on the rise ever since.

They are now third in the Premier League table, which means they will return to the Champions League after a one-year hiatus.

United won the Carabao Cup last month, defeating Newcastle to claim the club’s first trophy under Ten Hag.

The Red Devils are still going strong in the Europa League, with the team progressing to the quarter-finals after a 1-0 win over Real Betis on Thursday.

And on Sunday, United will face Fulham in the FA Cup, with the goal of reaching the last four.

Andreas Pereira, who left the Red Devils for the Cottagers in the summer, is one of the players the team will face.

Formerly, the midfielder was projected to be a significant player at Old Trafford in his early years.

Pereira, on the other hand, was permitted to leave United after struggling for consistency throughout his time there.

Nevertheless, since leaving, Ten Hag has praised the Samba star for his efforts in west London, admitting he was well aware of Pereira’s abilities.

“Andreas Pereira is a fantastic player,” the 53-year-old stated.

“I [had] known him already a long time, I had him in the young team at PSV, before he transferred to Manchester United.

“I’m incredibly delighted for him and that he’s doing so well. I believe it was the right decision for him because I believe he needs to play on a daily basis.”

“He didn’t do it over multiple years at Manchester United, [but] there comes a point where you have to move,” he continued.

“Maybe to take a step back in order to improve in the future, and I think he’s doing a terrific job, as is Fulham.

“They’re doing a good job.”

United defeated Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage earlier this season, with Christian Eriksen and Alejandro Garnacho scoring.
