It should come as no surprise that the Catalan giants will need to improve their defensive capabilities in order to compete for the league title and the Champions League next season.

Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez would be wise to sign the 30-year-old Senegalese defender.

Napoli, on the other hand, is reluctant to trade the player for a low price, thus Barcelona may have to pay a premium for his services.

Koulibaly is at the top of his game right now, so he should be able to adapt quickly and make an impact at the Spanish club.

However, if a deal to Barcelona does not materialize in the coming weeks, rumours say that the defender is willing to join Napoli for preseason.

This summer could be the defender’s last chance to join a big club, and he’ll be desperate to get out of Italy in the next few weeks. He’s 30, and he won’t want to waste his prime years with a team that can’t win major titles.

It’s unclear whether Barcelona will be able to come up with the necessary funds to sign the Senegalese defender.

The Spanish giants are in the midst of a financial crisis, so paying a high price for the 30-year-old will be difficult. The fact that the player will be a free agent next summer, though, gives the Spanish club some much-needed bargaining power.
