The Red Devils have shifted their focus to the La Liga striker as a potential successor for the Portuguese great, according to Mundo Deportivo, with Ronaldo wanting to leave Manchester this summer and United open to the forward leaving Old Trafford.

And Aubameyang has emerged as a potential to succeed Ronaldo at United under Erik Ten Hag, with Chelsea also apparently interested in signing the Gabonese striker this summer. However, new rumors suggest that the forward prefers to stay in Catalonia with Barcelona.

The former Borussia Dortmund player joined Xavi Hernandez’s side in January after being released from his Arsenal contract, and the striker is now earning a reputed £ 288,000 a week at Barcelona, with the La Liga club reportedly set on keeping the forward for the season.

Indeed, Aubameyang was one of Barcelona’s greatest players in the second half of last season, and despite signing Robert Lewandowski this summer, the former Arsenal star wants to stay at the Nou Camp, despite attention from Chelsea and now Manchester United.

As one of Europe’s most consistent goal scorers over the years, it’s no surprise that Aubameyang has been targeted by United. The Red Devils are desperate to sign a new striker this summer to replace Ronaldo and solve their problems up front, but given that the forward has already reportedly rejected Chelsea, the Red Devils have no chance of landing the former Arsenal captain.

United has been connected with several weird players this summer, such as former West Ham striker Marko Arnoutovic, and PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, but signing Aubameyang may be as outlandish as signing the aforementioned trio.

As previously stated, Aubameyang has already rejected a move to the Premier League with Chelsea this summer and given United’s massive problems on and off the field, it’s safe to assume that the Barcelona star would not consider a move to Old Trafford, despite how desperately Ten Hag needs a player of Aubameyang’s abilities.
