Leipzig, according to rumours, does not want to lose the Frenchman this summer and has taken steps to make him prohibitively expensive for those circling for his services.
After scoring 35 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions last season, Nkunku is one of Europe’s hottest properties. The clubs said to be interested in signing the Frenchman are Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, according to the Independent, Leipzig wants £100 million to entice clubs to sign its in-form forward.
Nkunku is said to want to stay at the Red Bull Arena this season, and Leipzig has persuaded him to sign a new deal with a one-year extension clause.
After joining Bayern Munich from PSG in 2019, the five-cap France international enjoyed his second season in Germany.
And he recently admitted to being flattered by the talk about his prospective transfer.
“It’s no secret,” he told Telefoot. There are a few clubs that are interested in me.
“It’s flattering, yes, but it’s also flattering to see a club like Leipzig do all in their power to keep me.”
“I’ll need to think about it and make a decision.” The World Cup is approaching, so that’s another element to consider.”
