Manchester United is interested in signing Antony, a Brazilian international who is eager to reconnect with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Alex Crook believes the player wants to join the Red Devils, but the move will be difficult because Ajax does not have to sell.
According to the talksSPORT writer, GiveMeSport:
“At this point, it’s 50/50.” Ten Hag is highly interested. The player wants to join, but Ajax are in a good situation because they’ve already made money by selling Martinez and Haller, so they don’t need to sell him cheap.”
According to a recent claim in The Daily Mail, the Dutch champions have boosted their asking price to £84 million in order to deter interest from Manchester United.
Ten Hag, on the other hand, is not giving up. Ajax media pair Kale and Kokkie’s Kokkie told AT5:
“First, he (Ten Hag) takes the position of assistant coach. Fine. Then he drives Timber insane, Martnez insane, and then he wants the video analyst again. Then he drives Antony insane once more. Ajax has stated 45 times that Antony is not for sale, and yet he continues to arrive. He’s becoming increasingly boring to me.”
Ten Hag recruited Antony from Sao Paulo to Ajax, and the Samba star has won every major domestic trophy in the Netherlands. In the previous season, he was directly responsible for 22 goals across all competitions.
The 22-year-old winger was a key member of Brazil’s Olympic gold-medal winning team last year.
Will Ten Hag be able to finalize his contract this summer? Time will only tell.
