Lisandro Martinez revealed as Manchester United’s third summer acquisition will offer talent and experience, according to John Murtough.

Martinez joined United earlier this month for an original cost of £46.8 million, which was later increased to £55.3 million, but the transaction was only officially finalized on Wednesday afternoon. Martinez has agreed to terms with United on a five-year deal extension.

Martinez, 24, is a left-footed center-back who made 36 appearances for Ajax last season under Ten Hag. Martinez took part in his first training session at Carrington yesterday and is expected to debut on July 30 against Atletico Madrid in Oslo.

Martinez is Ten Hag’s third summer acquisition, following Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen, and director of football Murtaugh expressed his excitement at the player’s arrival.

“Lisandro is an exceptional player who will add quality and experience to Erik [Ten Hag’s] squad,” Murtough stated. “We are happy that he has chosen to join Manchester United, and we look forward to watching him develop further and contribute to the team’s success.”

Martinez has two Eredivisie titles with Ajax and the 2021 Copa America with Argentina.
