‘If I was Arsenal’: Paul Merson urges Arteta to buy £50k-a-week midfielder, he’s just ‘sensational’

The Highbury legend spoke to Sportskeeda before this weekend’s Premier League action.
Arsenal will face West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.
The Gunners have improved their form to leapfrog Spurs into the top four of the Premier League.
With five games remaining, Mikel Arteta’s men are two points ahead of their north London opponents.
If Arsenal wins a place in the Champions League, they will have more clout when it comes to summer acquisitions.
Earlier this week, 90Min reported that Neves wants to leave Wolves, with Arsenal and other clubs interested.
“If I were Arsenal, I’d be after Ruben Neves,” Merson remarked on Sportskeeda.
“Manchester United will also be interested in him.”
“To be honest, I’m not sure how Wolves are going to keep him.”
However, the Gunners – or any other suitors – will almost certainly have to pay a high price for the £50,000-a-week star.
According to the Daily Mail, Wolves have paid £100 million for Neves.
The 25-year-contract old’s runs until 2024, so his club’s negotiating position would be fairly strong.
Arsenal, on the other hand, would be receiving a “sensational” player, in the words of Gary Neville.
Neves is at the pinnacle of his career, is world-class, and has a wealth of Premier League experience.
Arsenal has had success with players such as Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard, and Mohamed Elneny.
However, they lack the depth that they would desire. And Neves is the type of person who would expand their alternatives.
