Good News – Barcelona outline Frenkie de Jong transfer stance amid Manchester United link

Xavi wants Frenkie de Jong to continue at the Nou Camp despite reports to the contrary. This summer, Manchester United will want to reconnect him with Erik ten Hag. De Jong joined the Spanish club in 2019 after making his name as part of an all-action Ajax team under Dutch compatriot Ten Hag.

The speculation around the Netherlands midfielder has picked up steam ahead of the forthcoming transfer window. Meanwhile, after his appointment was confirmed on Thursday morning, Ten Hag is preparing to take over as United manager.

When the market reopens, United intends to make center midfield signings a priority. Despite their interest in West Ham captain Declan Rice, who remains a goal, the Manchester Evening News knows that United have begun to draft a deal involving his England teammate Kalvin Phillips.

Given the need for reinforcements in that region, those two aren’t the only names on the table, with Sport reporting that De Jong is being considered for a reunion with Ten Hag. According to the article, Ten Hag will be allocated £250 million to spend during the summer, while De Jong will cost £72 million.

His Barcelona manager, on the other hand, has turned down that and other offers. De Jong has made 27 appearances in La Liga this season, and Xavi believes he will remain at the Nou Camp in the future.

According to the Catalan favorite, “Frenkie is a crucial player for both me and the club. I’m content with him. If it were up to me, he would stay in Barcelona for many years.”
