Erik ten Hag to sell four Manchester United players as club hold initial talks with Next Ronaldo

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has approved the transfer of four first-team players this summer after conversations with Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong.

The 22-year-old right-back is a priority for Ten Hag, who wants to improve his defense’s attacking quality.

Frimpong, a Manchester City academy product, joined Leverkusen from Celtic two years ago and has established himself as one of Europe’s top offensive full-backs.

Ten Hag spent £220 million last summer and is looking to sign a top-tier center striker this summer.

However, United is on a Financial Fair Play tightrope, and the club must sell certain assets in order for Ten Hag to attract the players he desires.

According to the Manchester Evening News, in order to raise finances, United will sell Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams, and Alex Telles.

While the departures of Telles, Williams, and Bailly were somewhat predictable, Maguire’s departure would be the most contentious.

The England international joined United from Leicester for £80 million in 2019 and was named captain six months later.

This season, though, he has lost his starting spot to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

Though Ten Hag likes Maguire, tough decisions must be taken, and he believes he has enough cover in central defense, while Frimpong’s arrival would boost the Dutchman’s preferred style of play.
