According to rumours in his home country of Denmark, Manchester United has submitted a ‘letter of interest’ in Atalanta sensation Rasmus Hojlund.
Since joining the Serie A club for a cost of £17 million last summer, the striker has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest talents.
Hojlund has seven goals and three assists in Serie A this season, but his efforts for Denmark have drawn parallels to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
The 20-year-old has five goals in his first two international games, including a hat-trick against Finland.
At 6’4, Hojlund has been compared to Haaland for reasons other than his goals and Scandinavian heritage.
United are looking to add a forward this summer, and Harry Kane is at the top of their list.
However, according to Danish news site BT, United have expressed interest in Hojlund in writing.
This is a mechanism used to notify Atalanta that the club wishes to be kept informed of any changes in the forward’s future.
United are not the only team interested in the 20-year-old, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Arsenal also monitoring his position.
