United has compiled a potential four-man shortlist to take over on a long-term basis when Ralf Rangnick’s temporary contract expires in the summer. However, given the punishments imposed at Chelsea, they were advised to make a late push for Thomas Tuchel.

However, predictions of a Chelsea raid appear to be exaggerated, as Ten Hag has already apparently been interviewed by United executives, implying that they have chosen their new manager. The revelation will come as a shock to Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, and Julen Lopetegui, who are also rumored to be in the running.

According to the Daily Mail, the 52-year-old spoke with United on Monday, and the Dutchman is now considered the overwhelming favorite to take over as manager in the summer. Ten Hag has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and was even turned down by Tottenham last summer.

The Dutchman was interviewed to be Jose Mourinho’s replacement at Spurs, but they claimed he lacked charm, despite the fact that things haven’t gone too terribly for them now that Antonio Conte is in control. Tottenham’s loss might be United’s gain, and Ten Hag has been taking advanced English lessons since his summer rebuff.

Following his Tottenham rejection, Ten Hag appeared to make a U-turn on his future by signing a new contract with Ajax, but a year later he appears to want out, and United may have identified him as their man. The Dutchman is presently leading Ajax to another league victory, although the club was also eliminated from the Champions League at the same level as United.

Tuchel’s name has begun to circulate, but United are ready to pick their next manager as quickly as possible, and the German is content to ride out the uncertainty at Chelsea. It’s also a setback for Pochettino, who is on the verge of losing his job at Paris Saint-Germain.

Pochettino was unable to lead PSG to Champions League glory, which remains their first aim, and the Argentine is still suffering away from England. His family is still in London, and he has been sleeping in a hotel in Paris since accepting the position.

Due to his past Premier League experience and ties to England, the former Tottenham and Southampton manager was a leading possibility, but United may take a gamble with Ten Hag. The Dutchman has only worked outside of the country once, during a two-year stay with Bayern Munich’s reserve team.
