In tonight’s Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen, Manchester United is set to welcome back Sergio Reguilon.
The left-back, on loan from Tottenham, had been sidelined with a hamstring injury for a month but recently resumed team training.
With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia also unavailable due to injuries, Victor Lindelof has filled in for the left-back role.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, said, “Sergio was declared fit last Friday. He trained throughout the last week, participated in training yesterday, and will also train today.
We need to assess his readiness and match fitness to determine if he can be included in the squad. We’ll see if he’s ready to be available.”
Tonight’s game will see Rasmus Hojlund facing his former team, FC Copenhagen. Ten Hag expressed confidence in the United striker, suggesting that he could add to the two goals he scored in a lively Champions League match against Galatasaray earlier this month.
“He consistently positions himself well within our team to score goals, and I’m confident he’ll continue to do so. This goes for Marcus Rashford as well,” Ten Hag stated.
“In every game, when we execute our team’s strategy, we find ourselves in goal-scoring situations, and then it comes down to finishing. If you analyze all our games so far, you can see it.”
In other team news, Antony retains his starting position after the weekend’s Premier League victory over Sheffield United.
However, Casemiro is unavailable due to suspension following his red card against Galatasaray.
Aside from Shaw and Malacia, injured players include Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad Diallo.
Jonny Evans was forced to leave the field during the match at Bramall Lane. Jadon Sancho remains unavailable for selection.
