Manchester United winger Antony is making his way back to the UK to cooperate with the police regarding allegations of assault made against him, allegations he vehemently denies.

Antony, the Brazilian winger, is currently on a leave of absence from Manchester United as he faces accusations of assault stemming from a former relationship with Gabriella Cavallin.

An ongoing investigation by both Greater Manchester Police and Sao Paulo Police is underway, with Antony firmly refuting the claims.

While he has been in his native Brazil during this period, Antony is now set to return to British soil for a face-to-face meeting with the authorities.

As reported by The Sun, he was spotted at Sao Paulo airport, preparing for flights to Spain and then onward to Manchester, carrying a suitcase, a rucksack, and a wash bag.

In a statement, Antony expressed, “I have mutually agreed with Manchester United to take a leave of absence while I address these allegations.

This decision was made to prevent any distractions for my teammates and avoid unnecessary controversy for the club.

“I want to emphasize my innocence regarding the accusations made against me and commit to full cooperation with the police to help uncover the truth. I eagerly anticipate my return to the field as soon as possible.”

Earlier this month, Manchester United announced that Antony would not be representing the club while the allegations are ongoing.

In a statement, the Red Devils made their stance clear: “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony.

“Players who have not been involved in international matches are scheduled to return to training on Monday.

However, Antony and the club have mutually agreed to delay his return until further notice in order to address these allegations.

“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognize the importance of safeguarding all individuals involved in this situation and understand the impact these allegations have on abuse survivors.”

Cavallin alleges that Antony assaulted her in a hotel room on January 14, the day following a Premier League match against Manchester City. She claims to have sustained injuries, including a head injury and damage to a breast implant.

Since his arrival from Ajax for £88 million last summer, Antony has made 48 appearances for Manchester United, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

He has been absent from the last four matches played by the Red Devils, including the commencement of their Champions League and Carabao Cup campaigns, as well as Premier League encounters against Brighton and Burnley.

This weekend, Manchester United returns to league action, facing Crystal Palace in a rematch at Old Trafford after securing a 3-0 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday night, advancing to the fourth round of the League Cup.
