Man United to hold talks with 56-yr-old today, he could get job permanently
According to Football Insider, Man United will hold exploratory talks with Laurent Blanc about becoming their new manager today.
The United leadership holds former France and Paris Saint-Germain manager in high regard, and he has a strong working relationship with director Sir Alex Ferguson.
Blanc, 56, will be contacted to gauge his enthusiasm in taking over for the remainder of the season, according to a United source.
He’ll be told that if he does well in the capacity, there’s a potential he’ll receive the job on a permanent basis.
Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking on Sunday, Blanc isn’t the only possibility to take over as interim manager
However, his remarkable CV, United ties, and experience managing at the highest level, including in the Champions League, make him a strong prospect.
Blanc is presently the manager of Al-Rayyan, a Qatari club he took over in December of last year in his first management position in four years.
To entice him away from the Middle East, United would have to pay him compensation and persuade him that trading a permanent position for a job that would only last until the end of the season is the greatest career move.
The Premier League giants confirmed on Sunday that they will select an interim manager until next summer, after which they will make a permanent appointment.
The United hierarchy is aware that the season can be saved, with a top-four Premier League finish and a run in the Champions League the major objectives.
Blanc won four league titles as a manager, three at PSG and one at Bordeaux, after winning the World Cup as a player.
