Manchester United will kick off their Europa League campaign against Sevilla this evening. It is their third consecutive match against a Spanish team, having previously eliminated Barcelona and Real Betis from the competition.

Despite playing away for the second leg, the Red Devils will be hopeful of reaching the semi-finals after lately regaining form and winning two straight Premier League games. Meanwhile, Sevilla has struggled in La Liga this season, finishing only five points above the relegation zone.

United are still heavy favorites to win the league, which would be their first European title since defeating Ajax in the Europa League final six years ago. Despite winning the championship four times in the last nine seasons, Sevilla is only one point ahead of Union SG.

Injury updates

Manchester United

Manchester United has been dealt another injury setback as Marcus Rashford suffered an injury during the weekend’s triumph against Everton. Erik ten Hag has revealed that the forward will be out for a ‘few games’ and that Anthony Martial might fill in. The Red Devils will also be without Scott McTominay, who has not exercised with the group in preparation for today’s encounter, but his injury is said to be minor.

Luke Shaw will not play after being pulled in the first half of last week’s victory over Brentford. However, the defender could make a comeback in the next games.

Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek, Alejandro Garnacho, and Tom Heaton are all out. Van de Beek will not return until next season, while the latter two could make an appearance before the summer.

Sevilla

Sevilla will be without Pape Gueye at Old Trafford because the Frenchman is unable to play in the competition after arriving on loan from Marseille during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Jesus Manuel Corona will miss the game due to a muscular ailment suffered in August. This season, the Mexican has only made one appearance for Sevilla. Joan Jordan is also sidelined owing to an Achilles injury suffered earlier this month.
