Frenkie de Jong, a Barcelona midfielder, has confessed that there is “no news” to tell anyone on his future amid continuous speculation over a move to Manchester United.
United are interested in bringing the 25-year-old to Old Trafford this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News, as new manager Erik ten Hag intends to make major changes to his squad. The Barcelona star has identified his favourite midfield target.
The pair previously worked together at Ajax before De Jong moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2019 for a cost of £65 million. If the La Liga heavyweights trade the Dutchman this summer, they will almost certainly want to make a profit.
“It’s always flattering when teams express interest in you as a player,” De Jong added. “But I believe I am currently at the world’s largest club and feel fine there, therefore there is no news.”
Wales head coach Rob Page rated De Jong’s performance against Wales as “phenomenal” after the game. He is allegedly interested in joining United this summer, despite prior reports that he was hesitant due to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season. United finished sixth in the Premier League and will participate in the Europa League.
