Anthony Elanga has expressed gratitude to Bruno Fernandes for the thorough instructions he provided the young forward during Tuesday’s friendly triumph over Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag got his United tenure off to a flying start in Thailand, watching his team adapt to a new style of play and defeat their archrivals 4-0. The goals were scored by Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial, and Facundo Pellistri.

With Harry Maguire out due to a slight injury, Fernandes wore the armband for the first 45 minutes before being replaced at half-time, but even when not on the field, he demonstrated his captaincy. The official United Instagram account shared a video of the new No.8 deep in conversation with Elanga, as Amad listened and seemed to be giving tactical advice.

Young forward Elanga responded to the post with, ‘Thank you @brunofernandes.10.’

Fernandes wore the armband for extended stretches of last season when Maguire was unavailable, and there were calls for him to be given the armband permanently following Maguire’s disastrous season.

Many questioned whether being relieved of the captaincy would allow him to focus on regaining his form after his performances slumped following his heroics at Euro 2020.

Ten Hag, on the other hand, has stated that Maguire will remain the club’s captain. According to the manager: “Captain is Harry Maguire. I need to get to know all of the players, but he’s a seasoned captain with a track record of success. This does not bother me.”
