Deal Agreed – Man Utd ‘push’ to hijack £8.8m Arsenal deal for La Liga teenage ‘sensation’; ‘want’ Chelsea striker target

Man United are reportedly 'trying' to recruit Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda, 18, this month ahead of Arsenal and Newcastle.

Fresneda joins the list of right-backs linked to Manchester United since Erik ten Hag took over in the summer.

The Red Devils have been linked with a new right-back since Ten Hag stated in the summer that he is not a fan of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The head coach has instead favored Diogo Dalot, and the Portugal international has starred for Man United this season.

Wan-Bissaka has been on the bench for much of the season, but with Dalot sidelined since the World Cup, the ex-Crystal Palace man has appeared for United in recent weeks.

The defender has done well for United, and his recent success has fueled speculation that he could be given a fresh start under Ten Hag in the final few months of the season.

Last week, it was stated that Wan-Bissaka is ‘now expected to stay at United this month’ as a ‘real alternative’ to Dalot.

It was speculated at the time that Wan-situation Bissaka would change again if he slides back down the pecking order once Dalot returned.

As good as Wan-Bissaka has been in recent weeks, Ten Hag is likely to revert to deploying Dalot once his choice right-back is back to his best.

United appear to be keeping its options open, as they are now linked with Fresneda.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United has ‘joined’ rivals Arsenal and Newcastle ‘in the pursuit’ for the Real Valladolid’sensation’.

The Spanish club is claimed to be resigned to losing their best asset’ since his £8.8 million release clause ‘may be triggered this month’.

Man United is ‘trying’ to sign him because Wan-future Bissaka’s at the club is ‘uncertain’.

The Spain U19 international had a breakout season in 2022/23, appearing nine times in La Liga.

Marcus Thuram of France and Borussia Monchengladbach is another player who is maturing this season.

The 25-year-old has been involved in 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, and he also scored in the World Cup.

Thuram’s contract expires in the summer, and Gladbach is thought to be willing to let him go this month in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer in a few months.

According to Rudy Galetti, Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested in the attacker.

United has already signed Wout Weghorst on loan this month, but Ten Hag “wants one more striker,” according to the journalist.

“Certainly, Ten Hag wants another striker,” Galetti told GiveMeSport.

“Marcus Thuram, let’s see if they want to make a trade in January or wait until the summer.”
