Due to personal reasons, the Brazil international has not played for the Red Devils since the Lyon friendly, and he is on the verge of leaving.

The midfielder has been linked with moves to Galatasaray and Fulham, and Romano believes he will leave United this week.

During his Saturday presentation, Hojlund was not given a shirt number. After Fred leaves, United intends to give him the No.17 jersey.

Hojlund will be wearing the number 17 shirt.
Throughout his young career, the Danish international has worn four different jersey numbers. He began with 45 before switching to 28 in Copenhagen.

He wore the number nine shirt at Sturm Graz before switching to the number 17 jersey at Atalanta. The 20-year-old appears to be sticking to his guns.

Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri already wear the no.9 and no.28 jerseys, respectively, and are not anticipated to depart the club permanently.

The number 45 position is still open, but both United and Hojlund would prefer a lower squad number. As a result, the Red Devils must wait for Fred’s departure.

As Romano stated, the midfielder’s departure could occur in the next days, but there is no pressing necessity because Hojlund may be unable to play in the season opener.

He suffered a slight injury during Atalanta’s preseason campaign, and he could be out for several weeks before making his competitive debut with the Red Devils.
