The 24-year-old’s fitness problems last season led to rumours he could leave the 20-time English champions during the summer transfer window.

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly shown an interest in the England international striker, but Manchester United have closed the door on a potential transfer for their academy graduate.

Rashford has been in fine form for the Red Devils at the start of the 2022/23 season, with three goals and two assists in six Premier League games, and has already managed 96 goals and 60 assists in 309 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The striker’s current contract expires next June, but the club have the option to extend it for another 12 months.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils are ready to enter into talks with Marcus Rashford and his agents over a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

The report suggests that the 20-time English champion is ready to put a five-year contract on the table after impressing with his early season form.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was asked about Rashford on Wednesday ahead of the Europa League opener against Real Sociedad.

“It’s difficult for me to talk about the past, but I see a happy Marcus Rashford. I see some phases of his game that we could improve. We have worked a lot in the last two months with him on different aspects. He likes it and wants to translate it on the pitch and that’s what we see at the moment,” the Dutchman told reporters.

“He started with happiness, he comes every day, he smiles with a very positive atmosphere. If you put all these things together, you contribute more to the performance of the team, the result and also to your development.”

Ten Hag also believes Manchester United are “in control” of the situation regarding his contract, with the 24-year-old striker seen as a key part of the manager’s plans for the future.

“I don’t think his contract is finished, I think United are in control of the situation,” he added.
