In February 2022, Sport reported that Liverpool is interested in signing De Jong from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

However, it appears that Liverpool’s fierce rivals Manchester United are more anxious about him.

On Saturday, we covered a report from Oriol Domènech alleging that new United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken with his Dutch compatriot De Jong.

According to The Daily Star, United are willing to make the Netherlands international the club’s best-paid player.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are willing to pay £395,000 per week in salary to De Jong, who is available for €80 million (£68 million).

LIVERPOOL SHOULD NOT MATCH MANCHESTER UNITED’S OFFER FOR FRENKIE DE JONG.

Liverpool, in our opinion, should not match Manchester United’s salary offer to Frenkie de Jong.

It’s just too much.

Liverpool has a set pay structure, and there is no point in breaching it for a 25-year-old midfielder who has struggled since joining Barcelona from Ajax in 2019.

Of course, we all know that De Jong is a fantastic player who is still only 25 years old.

We also believe that the player would improve Liverpool’s midfield.

However, we do not believe Liverpool should pay De Jong close to £400,000 every week.
