CONFIRMED – Man Utd ‘reject offers for Mason Greenwood’ with mindset said to have changed

Manchester United have turned out bids for Mason Greenwood, who has changed his mind about returning to football.

During his lengthy ban, Mason Greenwood’s attitude about playing for Manchester United is said to have shifted. Yet, as he prepares to return to football amid an internal probe into his future, the Red Devils have fielded transfer offers for the 21-year-old.

Greenwood hasn’t featured for United since a 1-0 win over West Ham United in January 2022 at Old Trafford. His most recent goal came in a 3-1 win over Brentford. Eleven days later, he was arrested.

However, the Crown Prosecution Service dismissed the charges and halted the proceedings in February due to the ‘withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light.’

Greenwood is technically free to resume his duties. Yet, United is still debating whether he has a future at Old Trafford, taking both moral and sporting considerations into account.

According to the Athletic, United has received bids from Turkish clubs to sign Greenwood while the club’s investigation is ongoing.

The M16 giants, however, turned down those overtures as they work out a strategy to either incorporate the England international into Erik ten Hag’s side or part ways with a player they have developed since he was a child.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer catapulted Greenwood into the first-team picture as an 18-year-old and rapidly became a crucial forward due to a lack of options.

It’s also said that he needed to be reminded of his discipline on a regular basis after becoming a superstar overnight.

But, The Athletic reports that Greenwood’s understanding of what it means to play for United has been altered as a result of the incident.

“He’d run through a brick wall to be back playing for United now,” a source said of the soon-to-be parent.

It’s unclear whether Greenwood will have another chance to wear the renowned red shirt, with sponsors and some of the women’s squad allegedly concerned about his prospective return.

But, after more than a year since his last game for United, he appears poised to make a comeback at Old Trafford or elsewhere.
