Eddie Howe has revealed that he wants to bring in some ‘elite’ players before the start of the upcoming season. Nobody could have predicted Newcastle making a play for Maguire.

Nonetheless, the Daily Mail reports that Newcastle is ‘eyeing up’ a loan deal for Maguire. Man United, on the other hand, is solely interested in selling him.

However, if the Magpies are willing to make a monetary offer for the England international, the Red Devils are open to a deal.

Tottenham Hotspur is interested in Maguire, as previously reported by TEAMtalk. Aston Villa are also thought to be keeping an eye on the situation.

There is clearly a lot of interest in the 30-year-old. So it’ll be intriguing to watch whether Newcastle makes a move for Maguire in the coming weeks.

Maguire’s departure from Manchester United appears to be imminent.

Maguire’s playing time at Manchester United was substantially reduced after the additions of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

Indeed, the defender made only 16 Premier League games in 2022/23. Only eight of these started.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, recently stated that fellow backup center-back Victor Lindelof is ‘not for sale’ this summer. As a result, Maguire is now plainly a fourth-choice option.

Man United is also willing to make a place for Napoli center-back Kim Min-Jae. The Red Devils are the current favorites to sign the South Korean international, who has a £42 million release clause.

However, Newcastle has made a late move for Min-Jae, which could derail Manchester United’s ambitions.

Despite the fact that he is definitely not in Ten Hag’s plans for the future, Maguire is eager to stay at Old Trafford and compete for a starting spot.

However, his £200,000-a-week salary is a huge impediment to his departure, which no other team is likely to match. Newcastle, on the other hand, could easily afford it.

However, given the recent play of Fabian Schar and Sven Botman, there is no certainty Maguire would be a starter for the Magpies.

Even if Manchester United agrees to sell or loan Maguire to Newcastle, Maguire may refuse to make the move.
