Marcus Rashford told simple change can rekindle best Manchester United form

In his absence, the Three Lions will play two friendly matches against Switzerland and Ivory Coast. Rashford hasn’t played for England since last summer’s heartbreaking penalty miss in the Euro 2020 final.

The academy graduate has recovered from shoulder surgery since then. In his first four outings back in the season, he scored three goals.

Rashford, on the other hand, has had a difficult time since then. Indeed, the 24-year-old has only added two more goals to his tally, and he has spent much of his recent time on the bench as Ralf Rangnick has put his faith in £72.9 million addition Jadon Sancho and youngster Anthony Elanga.

Joe Cole, a pundit and former England player, said as part of a promotion for bookmakers Coral: “Marcus Rashford’s form for Manchester United and England hasn’t been what we’ve come to expect in recent months. It was the correct call to leave him out of this team. He needs to rediscover the joy of football.

“He’s done some incredible things off the field, and he’s still a fantastic human being. When he returns to the pitch, he must return to what he enjoys, recall how he got to where he is, and play without fear or stress.

“When he rediscovers the passion and love of the game, his level of performance will improve, and he will be able to play for England once more. That is without a doubt the case.”
