Rangnick confirms two players will play tomorrow and two that won’t

Ralf Rangnick, the manager of Manchester United, says he will rotate his team against Young Boys tomorrow, but he is motivated to win and get revenge on the minnows following their humiliation in the first group encounter in Switzerland.

Rangnick remarked during the pre-match news conference ahead of tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League Group F match:

‘I haven’t made up my mind yet, but I believe it makes sense to rest a few players owing to the heavy schedule and to prepare players for the Premier League.’

‘However, it’s also critical to maintain momentum, and our goal is to win games, so even if we play with a few new players, it’s critical that we win the game.’

‘It’s critical, in my opinion, that we continue to build the team and that we continue to apply defensive processes and fine-tune our collective defending.’

‘Right now, we have to do it in-game, as well as talking to the players and recording footage sessions, because we are playing every three days.’

‘It was plain to me what the priority should be after six months with no clean sheet at your own stadium.’

Rangnick was then questioned regarding Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson, and whether or not they would be permitted to move on loan in January.

‘To begin with, they’ll both play tomorrow, and they’ll both play in the first XI.’

‘I know Dean is a fantastic goalkeeper with a lot of ambition… We need two goalkeepers, and with Tom, we have three.

‘I need to get to know the players first over the next few weeks before I can judge them.’

‘I’ll do my best to provide as much game time as feasible.’ The Red Devils don’t need to win because they already have a better head-to-head record versus Villarreal, ensuring them first spot in the group.

Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani have returned to training, although Rangnick indicated that neither will play tomorrow. He also revealed that Anthony Martial has worsened an existing injury and will miss tomorrow’s match, but will return later in the week.

Rangnick also revealed that Sascha Lense, a sport psychologist, and Chris Armas, a coach, will be joining the team in the near future.
