Marcus Rashford has been left out of Manchester United’s squad for their Europa League encounter against Sheriff Tiraspol after failing to show up for training today.

Rashford’s absence has not been explained. Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka did not train on Wednesday and will not fly to Moldova.

The Manchester United striker hasn’t played for his country since the Euro 2020 final loss to Italy in July 2021, after a poor run of form and fitness last season saw him overlooked by England manager Gareth Southgate.

England will play Italy and Germany in their last Nations League group games later this month, giving players one last chance to impress before Southgate selects his selection for the World Cup in Qatar.

With United’s game against Leeds postponed this weekend, the encounter against Sheriff will be the Red Devils’ final fixture before returning to Premier League action following the international break.

United manager Erik ten Hag ostensibly has a full team, with Cristiano Ronaldo on the road and Luke Shaw back from injury.

United are aiming for their first points of the Group E season after losing to Real Sociedad last week at Old Trafford.
