Manchester United’s most recent cup exit has highlighted who the Glazers should consider as their future permanent manager. After the humiliating FA Cup loss at the hands of Middlesbrough on Friday, Ralf Rangnick may have ruled himself out of contention for the United job this summer.

Manchester United's next manager more obvious than ever after latest disaster in FA Cup

After replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on an interim basis, the German head coach has helped to calm the ship at Old Trafford.

Aside from dismal league results against Newcastle, Wolves, and Aston Villa, United had been on the rise since the winter break.

Back-to-back victories over Brentford and West Ham helped them climb to fourth place.

The FA Cup, on the other hand, was perhaps United’s last real chance for trophy this season, and they squandered it in disconcerting fashion.

Rangnick fielded a full-strength lineup against the Championship side, but United looked fragmented at times, with players unable to play as a unit.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, managing the big-name players at Old Trafford has been a difficulty for various managers.

Last summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spent a lot of money on signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane.

However, while Ronaldo continues to score regularly, the team as a whole has been disjointed and unconnected on far too many occasions.

Rangnick has been on the job for two months and still hasn’t found a solution to the mounting problem.

And United will require a new manager this summer who is capable of supervising significant changes at the club.

Given United’s problems with a divided team, a manager with a track record of laying a solid foundation will be crucial.

Because of his performance at Ajax, Erik ten Hag could be the logical choice for United executives in the summer.

Over the years, the Dutch team has had to contend with all of their greatest players being sold, but Ten Hag hasn’t let this affect their performance.

Instead, Ten Hag has worked his magic in the transfer market, acquiring undervalued players and transforming them into superstars.

Given how well Sebastian Haller did throughout his ill-fated tenure at West Ham, he is an excellent example.

Haller now has a whopping ten goals in the Champions League, putting him ahead of the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah.

Dusan Tadic is another who has grown under Ten Hag’s tutelage, while Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, Hakim Ziyech, and Donny van de Beek have all been groomed by the Akax coach.

Players clearly trust him and have a good working connection with him, which United has lacked in the years since Ferguson retired.
