“demon” – Ten Hag could unearth his own Vini Jr. in Man United move for £69m football genius

The French winger, who is comparable to Vinicius Jr., might give Ten Hag more alternatives if he signs him this summer.

Erik ten Hag has had a successful first season in charge of Manchester United, leading them to the FA Cup final, the Carabao Cup, and a Champions League berth after their midweek victory.

There is still much to be done, particularly in the transfer market, as the Old Trafford team will be up against more difficult competition in Europe’s top league and the Dutchman will be seeking to maintain a legitimate Premier League title campaign.

Only Marcus Rashford scored more than ten goals all season, so their attacking unit is one area that requires significant development. This summer, fresh attackers are a necessity.

The winger for Bayer Leverkusen, Moussa Diaby, has been mentioned in connection with the team. Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg tweeted: “Man Utd is following his condition instead and confirmed. The ownership of the club determines the next stages.

“Bayer is valued at between €70 and €80 million. Contract valid until 2025. Alonso’s essential cog.”

The Frenchman’s €80 million (£69 million) asking price is exorbitant, but Ten Hag would undoubtedly be thrilled to have a player of his caliber. The Frenchman is compared statistically to Real Madrid prodigy Vinicius Jr. in terms of style.

What kind of player is Moussa Diaby?
The 23-year-old can play on either wing or as a second striker, but his best position is on the right side. According to WhoScored, the French wonder likes to dribble and poses a threat on the counterattack. His greatest strengths are finishing and critical passes.

Similar to Vinicius Jr., who also enjoys dribbling and whose primary attributes are finishing and making crucial passes, the Brazilian has a knack for creating chaos for opposing defenders on the wings.

Given how impressive the Madrid revelation has been over the past year, Vinicius Jr. is FBref’s fourth-most comparable player to Diaby, which isn’t a bad comparison to draw.

The Brazilian, who is undoubtedly among the best on the continent, ranks in the top 1% throughout Europe’s top five leagues for progressive carries (6.86 per 90), successful take-ons (3.70 per 90), and touches in the opposing box (8.26 per 90).

Although Diaby isn’t quite there yet, there are indications that he could eventually become a star on par with the best in the world. The Frenchman is among the top 38% for both successful take-ons (1.76 per 90) and touches in the offensive penalty area (4.45 per 90) among the top 19% of players in the big five leagues.

These statistics fall short of Vinicius Jr.’s, but given the similarities in their playing styles, Diaby’s experience in a bigger league like the English top flight may eventually get him closer to these astounding numbers.

He was branded a “demon” by journalist Alex Barker, and if Ten Hag could develop the winger, he may have his own Vinicius Jr., who is ready to give Premier League defenders nightmares.
