Manchester United teenager with over 600 youth goals called up to train with senior squad

Manchester United academy prodigy Charlie McNeill has been called up by Erik ten Hag to train with the senior team ahead of the Red Devils’ game against Real Sociedad.

The 18-year-old joined academy defender Tyler Fredricson and midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. The trio of academy players have joined first team training, according to the Mirror.

McNeill joined United’s academy from rivals Manchester City at the age of 18. In youth football, the 18-year-old has scored over 600 goals. In the Red Devils’ under-21 team, the youngster also has a good record.

During the pre-season, fans were able to watch a group of prospects. In the friendlies, Zidane Iqbal was undoubtedly the youngster who attracted the most attention. Charlie Savage also did a good job.

However, the Iraqi was good on the ball. The midfielder showed his qualities in the friendly against Liverpool in Thailand. So he got more minutes during the pre-season.

Other young talents on United’s agenda are Hannibal Mejbri, Facundo Pellistri and Alvaro Fernandez, among others. Alejandro Garnacho is another prodigy who has established himself in the first team.

United kick off their Europa League campaign with the visit of Txuri-urdines to Old Trafford. The Red Devils are on a winning streak in the Premier League. A win against Sociedad would be their fifth in a row in all competitions.

Academy product Marcus Rashford has been key to the team’s success. The England international, who struggled for form last season, seems to have found his feet under the new manager.
