Aaron Wan-Bissaka has reportedly been reprimanded by Manchester United after failing to show up for training. Since Ralf Rangnick took over for the dismissed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in early December, Wan-Bissaka has only made three appearances. Due to illness, the former Crystal Palace ace was unavailable before the Christmas break.

Wan-Bissaka has been practising with United this week ahead of Friday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.

However, it appears that he was not present for a number of sessions.

Duncan Castles believes Wan-Bissaka has been AWOL on multiple occasions while speaking on the Transfer Window podcast.

Instead of going to the training ground to be checked by medical personnel, the 24-year-old took the “rare” step of calling in sick.

United have penalised Wan-Bissaka, according to Castles.

“From what I’ve heard, he’s been missing a lot of training sessions,” Castles remarked.

“I’m informed that he failed to show up for training on at least one occasion, using illness as an excuse, calling in to say he was sick and couldn’t come in for training.”

“At a football team, that’s really unique.” If you have an illness, you’ll usually come into the training ground, let the club physicians to assess you, and then they’ll decide whether or not you should train, as well as the best way to get you fit enough to play again.

“I’ve been told he’s been penalised by the club for missing training.”

“Other players have been informed that there is a disciplinary matter at hand, and other players have commented on his demeanour and concerns with him on the training ground.”

Wan-Bissaka has been in controversy off the field in recent months as well.

After pleading guilty to driving while disqualified, he was fined more than £30,000 and given a six-month driving suspension in December.

Wan-Bissaka joined United from Crystal Palace in 2019 for a price of £45 million, with a potential increase of £5 million.

He has already played over 100 times for the club and was a regular under former manager Solskjaer.
